Sunday: Prayer to Stem the Scourge of the Pandemic (Oratio Imperata)

Merciful and compassionate Father,
we come to you in our need,
to seek your protection
against the COVID-19 virus
that has disturbed and even claimed lives.

We ask you now to look upon us with love
and by your healing hand,
dispel the fear of sickness and death,
restore our hope,
and strengthen our faith.

We pray that you guide the people
tasked to find cures for this disease
and to stem its transmission.
We thank you for the vaccines developed,
made possible by your guiding hands.
Bless our efforts to use these vaccines
to end the pandemic in our country.

We pray for our healthcare workers
that they may minister to the sick
with competence and compassion.
Grant them health in mind and body,
strength in their commitment,
and protection from the disease.

We pray for those afflicted.
May they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.

Give us the grace in these trying times
to work for the good of all
and to help those in need.
May our concern and compassion for each other
see us through this crisis
and lead us to conversion and holiness.

Grant all these petitions
through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son,
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God, forever and ever.
Amen.

We fly to your protection,
oh Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our petition in our necessities,

Tuesday: Common Prayer to God for Help

God our Father,
Creator of the world,
almighty and merciful,
out of love for us
You sent your Son into the world
as the doctor of our souls and our bodies,
look upon your children who,
in this difficult time of confusion and dismay
in many regions of Asia and the world,
turn to you seeking strength, salvation and relief,
deliver us from illness and fear,
heal our sick,
comfort their families,
give wisdom to our rulers,
energy and reward to our doctors, nurses and volunteers,
and eternal life to the dead.
Do not abandon us in the moment of trial
but deliver us from all evil.

We ask this of Thee,
who with the Son and the Holy Spirit,
live and reign for ever and ever.
Amen.

Mary, mother of health and hope, pray for us!

Wednesday: Prayer to Our Lord for the Grace of Healing and Protection

Lord Jesus Christ, you travelled through towns and villages
curing every disease and illness.
At your command, the sick were made well.
Come to our aid now,
in the midst of the global spread of the Coronavirus,
that we may experience your healing love.

Heal those who are sick with the virus.
May they regain their health and strength.

Heal us from our fear,
which prevents neighbors from helping one another.

Heal us from our pride,
which can make us claim invulnerability
to a disease that knows no borders.

Good Lord, healer of all, stay by our side
in this time of uncertainty and sorrow.

May those who have died from the virus
rest in peace and rise in glory.

Be with the families of those who are sick or have died.
As they worry and grieve,
defend them from illness and despair.

Be with the doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals
who seek to heal and help those affected
and who put themselves at risk in the process.
May they know your protection and grace.

Be with the leaders of all nations.
Give them the foresight to act with prudence and charity
for the well-being of the people they are meant to serve.

Stay with us, Lord, and grant us your peace.

Amen.

Thursday: Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe

Holy Virgin of Guadalupe,
Queen of the Angels,
We fly to you today as your beloved children.
We ask you to intercede for us with your Son,
as you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our nation and world,
and for all our families and loved ones,
the protection of your holy angels,
that we may be spared the worst of this illness.

For those already afflicted,
we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance.
Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful,
wipe away their tears and help them to trust.

In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us in the Church to love one another
and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace of Jesus
to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you truly are
our compassionate mother,
health of the sick
and cause of our joy.

Shelter us under the mantle of your protection,
keep us in the embrace of your arms,
help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus.
Amen.

Friday: Prayer to Saint Raphael, the Archangel

Blessed Raphael, archangel and friend,
God the Father called you to be
a force for healing in the world,
touching wounded hearts, bodies, and minds
with the might of the Holy Spirit.

Dear Raphael, help us to put aside
our limited, worldly habit
of judging and condemning ourselves and others
when we do wrong,
and to replace it with Christ’s perspective
of healing the wounds we all incur
in living as imperfect beings
in an imperfect world.

In that spirit, we ask now
that you use your swift and silent wings
to bring to God this request:

[Insert your prayer request here].

Guide us always to the people
through whom God is waiting to make us whole,
and help us to be sources of loving healing to them.
We pray this in the name of Christ our Lord.
Amen.

May the holy Archangel Raphael,
standing so close to the throne of God
offer Him our prayers.
Amen.

May the Archangel Raphael,
called God’s Healer,
bring consolation and healing to those who are sick
and protect us from all ills,
especially from the CoronaVirus pandemic.
Amen.

May Raphael, the Angelic Companion,
guide us during all life’s journeys,
preserve us in peace and tranquility,
and, at the end of all our travels,
bring us safely to our eternal home.
Amen.

Saturday: Prayers to Saints Sebastian, Roch, and Rosalia Against Plagues and Disease

Father in heaven,
we thank You for the communion of saints
so that we can draw near to You
through the intercession of Saint Sebastian, Saint Roch and Saint Rosalia.
Through their prayers, help us to remember
that our destiny is heaven.

As these saints gave up all things in this world
for the sake of Your Kingdom,
through their prayers, may we love more fully
Your Son our Lord Jesus Christ,
who together with You and the Holy Spirit
are one God forever and ever.
Amen.

Glorious Sebastian, martyr and saint,
we call on your strength and courage
to help us through this difficult trial.

Your faith was so deep,
a multitude of arrows could not finish you.
We ask for your intercession
that we may also survive that which threatens
to destroy our beliefs in the mercy of Christ.

The piercing wounds inflicted for your faith
only proved to strengthen your belief.
May you intercede for those who are weakened
from the effects of disease.

May their bodies be miraculously strengthened
physically and spiritually, as was yours,
through the grace and mercy of Christ.

Saint Sebastian, endowed with power from God
to avert pestilence and all contagious diseases,
pray for us.
Amen.

O Blessed Saint Roch,
Patron of the sick,
Have pity on those
Who lie upon a bed of suffering.

Your power was so great
When you were in this world,
That by the sign of the Cross,
Many were healed of their diseases.

Now that you are in heaven,
Your power is not less.
Offer, then, to God
Our sighs and tears.
And obtain for us that health we seek
Through Christ Our Lord.

Saint Roch, pray for us,
That we may be preserved
From all diseases of body and soul.
Amen.

Saint Rosalia, confessor and virgin,
we pray to God for our families and friends.
Through your powerful prayers, may we obtain
health, life, and eternal salvation.

O glorious virgin and confessor,
we promise henceforth to remember and follow
your example of faith and love.
Saint Rosalia, pray for us and ours,
that we would put our total trust
in our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Almighty God, who forgive the sins of your people
and heal all their faults,
you who call the Lord our healer
and sent your beloved Son to bear our sickness,
look upon us who stand humbly before You.
We pray to You in this time of plague and need,
remember Your love and kindness
that You have always shown to Your people
in times of tribulation.
Just as You graciously looked upon Aaron's atonement
and stopped the plague that broke out,
just as You accepted David's sacrifice
and commanded the destroying angel to withdraw his hand,
accept also today our prayer and sacrifice
and show us mercy.
Keep this disease away from us,
allow those affected to be healed,
protect those who have been preserved from it so far by Your goodness,
and do not let the plague spread any further.

We also pray today for this special need and intention [make your intention known].

Holy Mary, health of the sick, pray for us!

Saint Sebastian, pray for us!

Saint Roch, pray for us!

Saint Rosalia, pray for us!

Amen!

Sign of the Cross:

In the name of theFather
and of the Son
and of the Holy Spiritdd
Amen.
