Novenas and Intercessory Prayers for Friday

Sign of the Cross

In the Name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Divine Jesus, You have said,
"Ask and you shall receive;
seek and you shall find;
knock and it shall be opened to you."
Behold us humbling ourselves at Your feet,
filled with a lively faith
and confidence in the promises
dictated by Your Sacred Heart
to Saint Margaret Mary.
We come to ask these favors:

(Make your requests here…)

To whom can we turn if not to You,
Whose Heart is the source of all graces and merits?
Where should we seek if not in the treasure
which contains all the riches
of Your kindness and mercy?
Where should we knock if not at the door
through which God gives Himself to us
and through which we go to God?
We have recourse to You,
Heart of Jesus.
In You we find consolation when afflicted,
protection when persecuted,
strength when burdened with trials,
and light in doubt and darkness.

Dear Jesus,
we firmly believe that You can grant us the grace we implore,
even though it should require a miracle.
You have only to will it
and our prayers will be granted.
We admit that we are most unworthy of Your favours,
but this is not a reason for us to be discouraged.
You are the God of mercy,
and You will not refuse a contrite heart.
Cast upon us a look of mercy,
we beg of You,
and Your kind Heart will find in our miseries and weakness
a reason for granting our prayers.

Sacred Heart,
whatever may be Your decision
with regard to our requests,
we will never stop adoring,
loving, praising, and serving You.
Lord Jesus,
be pleased to accept this
our act of perfect resignation
to the decrees of Your adorable Heart,
which we sincerely desire
may be fulfilled in and by us
and all Your creatures forever.

Grant us the grace for which we humbly implore You
through the Immaculate Heart of Your most sorrowful Mother.
You entrusted us to her as her children,
and her prayers are all-powerful with You.

Amen.

OFFERING:

O God, we offer You all our prayers,
works, joys, and sufferings
in union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
for the intentions for which He pleads and offers Himself
in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass,
in thanksgiving for Your favours,
in reparation for our sins,
and in humble supplication
for our temporal and eternal welfare,
for the needs of our holy Mother the Church,
for the conversion of sinners,
and for the relief of the poor souls in purgatory.

Amen.

Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes (for Healing

O Almighty God,
who by the Immaculate Conception
of the Blessed Virgin Mary
did prepare a worthy dwelling place for your Son,
we humbly beseech you
that as we contemplate the apparition
of Our Lady in the Grotto of Lourdes,
we may be blessed with health of mind and body.
O most gracious Mother Mary,
beloved Mother of Our Lord and Redeemer,
look with favor upon us
as you did that day on Bernadette
and intercede with him for us
that the favor we now so earnestly seek
may be granted to us.
Amen.

[mention your petition]

O ever-Immaculate Virgin,
Mother of Mercy,
health of the sick,
refuge of sinners,
comforter of the afflicted,
you know our wants, our troubles, our sufferings;
look with mercy on us.

By appearing in the Grotto of Lourdes,
you were pleased to make it a privileged sanctuary,
whence you dispense your favours;
and already many sufferers have obtained
the cure of their infirmities,
both spiritual and corporal.
We come, therefore, with complete confidence
to implore your maternal intercession.
Obtain, O loving Mother, the grant of our requests.

Through gratitude for your favours,
we will endeavour to imitate your virtues,
that we may one day share your glory.

O Brilliant star of purity,
Mary Immaculate, Our Lady of Lourdes,
glorious in your assumption,
triumphant in your coronation,
show unto us the mercy of the Mother of God,
Virgin Mary, Queen and Mother,
be our comfort, hope, strength, and consolation.
Amen.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.
Saint Bernadette, pray for us.

Novena to St. Padre Pio

O St. Pio, we come to you today
knowing that you are truly a miracle worker.
As one who is close to Jesus,
we ask that you would pray for these, our intentions:

(State your intentions here)

Prayer of St. Pope John Paul II to St. Pio

“Glorious, humble and beloved Padre Pio.
Teach us, we pray, humility of heart,
so that we may be counted among the little ones of the Gospel
to whom the Father promised to reveal
the mysteries of His Kingdom.
Help us to pray without ceasing,
certain that God knows what we need
even before we ask Him.

“Obtain for us the eyes of faith
that will help us recognize in the poor and suffering,
the very face of Jesus.

“Sustain us in the hour of trouble and trial
and, if we fall, let us experience
the joy of the sacrament of forgiveness.
Grant us your tender devotion
to Mary, mother of Jesus and our Mother.

“Accompany us on our earthly pilgrimage
toward the blessed Homeland,
where we too, hope to arrive
to contemplate forever
the Glory of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”

Amen

St. Padre Pio, Pray for us!

Prayer to St. Raphael

Blessed Saint Raphael, the Archangel,
We beseech you to help us in all our needs
and trials of this life,
as you, through the power of God,
didst restore sight and gave guidance to young Tobit.
We humbly seek your aid and intercession,
that our souls may be healed,
our bodies protected from all ills,
and that through divine grace, we may become fit
to dwell in the eternal Glory of God in heaven.

Amen.

To love the Lord God with all my heart,
all my soul, all my strength.

Not to kill.

To love fasting.
To relieve the poor.
To clothe the naked.
To visit the sick.
To bury the dead.
To help in trouble.
To console the sorrowing.
To hold myself aloof from worldly ways.
To prefer nothing to the love of Christ.

Not to give way to anger.
Not to foster a desire for revenge.
Not to entertain deceit in the heart.
Not to make a false peace.
Not to forsake charity.
Not to swear, lest I swear falsely.
To speak the truth with heart and tongue.
Not to return evil for evil.
To do no injury: yea, even to bear patiently
any injury done to me.
To love my enemies.
Not to curse those who curse me, but rather to bless them.
To bear persecution for justice's sake.

Not to be proud.
Not to be given to intoxicating drink.
Not to be an over-eater.
Not to be lazy.
Not to be slothful.
Not to be a murmurer.
Not to be a detractor.
To put my trust in God.

To refer the good I see in myself to God.
To refer any evil in myself to myself.
To fear the Day of Judgment.

To read only what is good to read.
To look at only what is good to see.
To pray often.
To ask forgiveness daily for my sins,
and to seek ways to amend my life.
To obey my superiors in all things rightful.
Not to desire to be thought holy, but to seek holiness.

To fulfill the commandments of God by good works.
To love chastity.
To hate no one.
Not to be jealous or envious of anyone.
Not to love strife.
Not to love pride.
To honor the aged.
To pray for my enemies.
To make peace after a quarrel,
before the setting of the sun.
Never to despair of your mercy, O God of Mercy.
Amen.

Seven Days of Prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory: Friday

By St. Alphonsus Liguori

O Lord God omnipotent,
we beseech You by the Precious Blood,
which Jesus Your divine Son did shed this day
upon the tree of the Cross,
especially from His sacred Hands and Feet,
deliver the souls in purgatory,
and particularly that soul for whom
we are most bound to pray,
in order that we may not be the cause
which hinders You from admitting it quickly
to the possession of Your glory
where it may praise You and bless You for evermore.
Amen.

Blessed Souls, we have prayed for you;
we entreat you, who are so dear to God,
and who are secure of never losing Him,
to pray for us miserable sinners,
who are in danger of being damned,
and of losing God forever.
Amen.

O God, the author of mercy,
the lover of the salvation of mankind;
we address Your clemency,
in behalf of our relations, friends, and benefactors,
who are departed this life,
that by the intercession of blessed Mary, ever virgin, and of all the saints,
You would receive them into the enjoyment of eternal happiness;
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
