Novenas and Intercessory Prayers for Monday

Sign of the Cross

In the Name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Novena to the Holy Family

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
bless us and grant us the grace
of loving the Holy Church as we should,
above every earthly thing,
and of ever showing our love by deeds.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
bless us and grant us the grace
of openly professing as we should,
with courage and without human respect,
the faith that we received
as your gift in holy Baptism.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
bless us and grant us the grace
of sharing as we should
in the defense and propagation
of the Faith when duty calls,
whether by word or by the sacrifice
of our possessions and our life.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
bless us and grant us the grace
of loving our family and others
in mutual charity as we should,
and establish us in perfect harmony
of thought, will, and action,
under the rule and guidance
of the shepherds of the Church.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
bless us and grant us the grace
of conforming our life fully as we should
to the commandments of God’s law
and those of His Holy Church,
so as to live always
in that charity which they set forth.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
We ask in particular these special favors:

Dedication of One’s Family

Most loving Jesus,
by Your sublime and beautiful virtues
of humility, obedience, poverty,
modesty, charity,
patience, and gentleness,
You blessed with peace and happiness
the family which You chose on earth.
In Your mercy look upon our family.
We belong to You,
for we have received Your many blessings
over many years
and we entrust ourselves to Your loving care.

Look upon our family in Your loving kindness,
preserve us from danger,
give us help in time of need,
and grant us the grace to persevere to the end
in imitation of Your holy Family,
so that having revered You
and loved You faithfully on earth,
we may praise You eternally in heaven.

Mary, dearest Mother,
to your intercession we have recourse,
knowing that your Divine Son will hear your prayers.
Glorious patriarch, Saint Joseph,
help us by your powerful prayers
and offer our prayers to Jesus
through Mary’s hands.

Amen.

Novena to Mary, Help of Christians

Most Holy and Immaculate Virgin,
Help of Christians,
we place ourselves under your motherly protection.
Throughout the Church's history you have helped Christians
in times of trial, temptation and danger.
Time and time again, you have proven to be
the Refuge of sinners,
the Hope of the hopeless,
the Consoler of the afflicted,
and the Comforter of the dying.
We promise to be faithful disciples
of Jesus Christ, your Son,
to proclaim His Good News
of God's love for all people,
and to work for peace and justice in our world.
With faith in your intercession,
we pray for the Church,
for our family and friends,
for the poor and abandoned,
and all the dying.
Grant, O Mary, Help of Christians,
the graces of which we stand in need.

[Mention your intentions.]

May we serve Jesus with fidelity and love until death.
Help us and our loved ones
to attain the boundless joy
of being forever with our Father in heaven.
Amen.

Mary, Help of Christians, pray for us!

Novena Prayer for the Intercession of St. Pope John Paul II

O Blessed Trinity,
we thank You for having graced the Church
with St. Pope John Paul II,
and for allowing the tenderness of your Fatherly care,
the glory of the cross of Christ,
and the splendor of the Holy Spirit,
to shine through him.

Trusting fully in Your infinite mercy
and in the maternal intercession of Mary,
he has given us a living image of Jesus
the Good Shepherd,
and has shown us that holiness
is the necessary measure
of ordinary Christian life
and is the way of achieving
eternal communion with you.

Grant us, by his intercession,
and according to Your will,
the graces we implore,
knowing that he is numbered among Your saints.

Amen.

[Mention your requests here.]

Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory be…

Prayer to St. Pope John Paul II (from the Vatican):

Oh, St. Pope John Paul II,
look down from the window of heaven
and grant us your blessing.
Bless the church which you loved, served and shepherded,
bravely leading it through the world’s vicissitudes
to bring Jesus to the whole world
and the whole world to Jesus.

Bless the young, who were your great passion:
renew their dreams,
renew the vision from on high,
that they may find the light that illuminates
the paths of life here below.

Bless our families, bless every family:
You felt Satan’s assault
against the precious and vital divine spark
that God kindled on earth.
St. Pope John Paul II,
by your prayers, protect the family
and every life that blossoms from the family.

Pray for the whole world,
which is still marked by tension, war and injustice.
You fought war by invoking dialogue
and sowing the seeds of love.
Pray for us, that we may be tireless sowers of peace.

O St. Pope John Paul II,
from the window of heaven,
where we see you next to Mary,
send God’s blessing down upon us all.

Amen.

Novena to St. Gabriel, The Archangel

Saint Gabriel the Archangel,
we venerate you as the Angel of the Incarnation,
because God specially appointed you
to bear the messages concerning the God-Man
to Daniel, Zechariah, and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Give us a very tender and devoted love
for the Incarnate Word and his Blessed Mother,
more like your own.

We venerate you also as the “Strength from God”,
because you are the giver of God’s strength,
consoler and comforter
chosen to strengthen God’s faithful
and teach them important truths.
We ask for the grace
of a special power of the will
to strive for holiness of life.
Steady our resolutions;
renew our courage;
comfort and console us in the problems,
trials and sufferings of daily living,
as you consoled our Savior in his agony
and Mary in her sorrows
and Joseph in his trials.
We put our confidence in you.

Saint Gabriel, we ask you especially for these favors:
(mention your requests).
Through your earnest love
for the Son of God made man
and for his Blessed Mother,
We beg of you,
intercede for us
that our requests may be granted,
if it be God’s holy will.

Pray for us, Saint Gabriel the Archangel.
That we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.

Amen.

Prayer for the Protection of the Family

O God of goodness and mercy,
to Your fatherly guidance we commend our family,
our household and all our belongings.
We commit all to Your love and keeping;
Fill this house with Your blessings
even as You filled the holy House of Nazareth with Your presence.

Keep far from us, above all else,
the blemish of sin,
and may You alone reign in our midst by Your law,
by Your most holy love
and by the exercise of every Christian virtue.
Let all of us obey You, love You and set ourselves
to follow in our own life Your example,
that of Mary, Your Mother
and our Mother most loving,
and that of your blameless guardian, Saint Joseph.

Protect us and our house from all evils and misfortunes,
but grant that we may be ever resigned to Your divine will
even in the sorrows which it shall please You to send us.
Finally give unto all of us the grace to live in perfect harmony
and in the fullness of love toward our neighbor.
Grant that every one of us may deserve by a holy life
the comfort of Your holy Sacraments at the hour of death.
O Jesus, bless us and protect us.

O Mary, Mother of grace and of mercy,
defend us against the wicked spirit,
reconcile us with Your Son,
commit us to His keeping,
that so we may be made worthy of His promises.

Saint Joseph, foster-father of our Savior,
guardian of His holy Mother,
head of the Holy Family,
intercede for us,
bless us and defend our home at all times.

Saint Michael,
defend us against all the evil cunning of hell.

Saint Gabriel,
make us understand the holy will of God.

Saint Raphael,
preserve us from all sickness and from every danger to our lives.

Our holy Guardian Angels,
keep our feet safely on the path of salvation both day and night.

Our holy Patrons,
pray for us before the throne of God.

Yea, bless this house,
O God the Father,
who has created us;
O God the Son,
who has suffered for us upon the holy Cross,
and You, O Holy Spirit,
who has sanctified us in holy Baptism.
May the one God in three Divine Persons
preserve our bodies,
purify our minds,
direct our hearts
and bring us all to everlasting life.

Glory be to the Father,
glory be to the Son,
glory be to the Holy Spirit!

  Amen.

Seven Days of Prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory: Monday

By St. Alphonsus Liguori

O Lord God omnipotent,
we beseech You by the Precious Blood,
which Your divine Son Jesus shed in His cruel scourging,
deliver the souls in purgatory,
and among them all, especially that soul
which is nearest to its entrance into Your glory,
that it may soon begin to praise You and bless You for ever.
Amen.

Blessed Souls, we have prayed for you;
we entreat you, who are so dear to God,
and who are secure of never losing Him,
to pray for us miserable sinners,
who are in danger of being damned,
and of losing God forever.
Amen.

O God, the author of mercy,
the lover of the salvation of mankind;
we address Your clemency,
in behalf of our relations, friends, and benefactors,
who are departed this life,
that by the intercession of blessed Mary, ever virgin, and of all the saints,
You would receive them into the enjoyment of eternal happiness;
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Sign of the Cross

In the Name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
