Novenas and Intercessory Prayers for Saturday

Sign of the Cross

In the Name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Novena to Christ the King

Christ, our Savior and our King,
renew in us allegiance to Your Kingship.

O Prince of Peace,
may Your reign be complete in our life
and in the life of the world.
Christ, our King,
please answer these petitions
if they be in accordance with Your Holy Will…

[Mention your intentions here]

As we reflect on Your second, glorious coming
and the judgment of all mankind,
we beg You to show us mercy
and give us the grace to become great saints.
We pray that not only will we spend eternity with You
but that You may use us – sinners –
to bring others into Your Kingdom for Your glory.

Christ the King, Your Kingdom come!

Amen.

Novena to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

O Most Blessed Mother,
heart of love, heart of mercy,
ever listening, caring, consoling,
hear our prayers.
As your children, we implore your intercession
with Jesus your Son.
Receive with understanding and compassion
the petitions we place before you today, especially…

(State your intentions here...)

We are comforted in knowing
your heart is ever open
to those who ask for your prayer.
We trust to your gentle care and intercession,
those whom we love and who are sick
or lonely or hurting.
Help all of us, Holy Mother,
to bear our burdens in this life
until we may share eternal life
and peace with God forever.

Immaculate Virgin,
by the holy will of your Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ,
you are our Mother in Heaven.
Your Immaculate Heart is full of love,
mercy and compassion
for sinners like us.
We ask that you intercede for us today.
We trust in your intercession
before the throne of God for our needs.
Please pray also that if our requests
are not in accordance with the will of God,
that we may be, like you,
conformed to His will and not our own.

Hail Mary…

Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Pray for us!

Amen.

Novena to St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus

O Eternal Father,
Who are in heaven,
where You do crown the merits of those
who in this world serve you faithfully,
for the sake of the most pure love
Your little daughter Thérèse of the Child Jesus had for You,
so as all but to bind You
to give her whatever she desires,
seeing that while on earth
she always did Your will,
incline Your ears to the petitions
which she offers up to You on our behalf,
and hear too our prayers
by granting us the grace we ask.

Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory be…

O Eternal Son of God,
You Who have promised to reward the least service
rendered to You in the person of our neighbour,
cast a glance of gentle love
on Your little spouse Thérèse of the Child Jesus
who, with such great zeal,
Had ever at heart the salvation of souls,
and for the sake of all she has done and suffered,
lend a willing ear to her wish
of spending her heaven doing good upon earth,
and grant us the grace
we plead for so earnestly from You.

Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory be…

O Eternal Holy Spirit,
Who did make perfect
with so many graces
the beloved soul of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus,
we beseech You, for the sake of the fidelity
she showed in ever corresponding with Your graces,
to incline Your ear to the prayers
she offers to You on our behalf,
and having before You her promise
of letting fall from heaven
a shower of roses,
mercifully grant us the grace
of which we stand in such need.

Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory be…

Novena Rose Prayer

O Little Thérèse of the Child Jesus,
please pick for us a rose
from the heavenly gardens
and send it to us as a message of love.

O Little Flower of Jesus,
ask God today to grant the favours
we now place with confidence in your hands...

(Make your requests here...)

St. Thérèse,
help us to always believe as you did,
in God’s great love for us,
so that we might imitate
your ‘Little Way’ each day.

Amen.

Prayer to our Guardian Angel

Our guardian angels:
O most Faithful companions,
appointed by God
to be our guides and protectors,
and who are ever at our side,
what thanks can we offer you
for your faithfulness and love,
and for all the benefits
which you have conferred upon us?

You watch over us in sleep;
you console us when we are sad;
you lift us up when we fall;
you avert the dangers that threaten us;
you prepare us for the future;
you withdraw us from evil
and urge us towards good;
you exhort us to penance
when we yield to temptation;
and reconcile us to our God whom we have offended.

Long since should we have been cast into hell,
unless by your prayers
you had averted from us the anger of God.
Leave us not, then, we entreat you;
but continue to comfort us in adversity,
restrain us in prosperity,
defend us in danger,
assist us in temptations,
lest at any time
we fall victim to them.
Offer to God
our prayers and petitions,
and all our religious exercises,
and obtain for us the great gift of final perseverance,
and the grace to die
in the friendship of our Creator,
and so to enter into life everlasting.
Amen.

Prayer Against Natural and Manmade Disasters

Loving Saviour Jesus,
a single word from You can protect us
from every perilous calamity
since by Your word alone,
the heavens, the earth and all living creatures were made.

As the Bible says,
"It is better to trust in the Lord
than to put confidence in mortals and in princes",
we trust only in You Lord.
Your word says, "those who seek the Lord
shall not lack any good thing."

We once again acknowledge that
You who made a way for Your people through the Red Sea,
You who stopped the rains for three years,
You who rebuked the storms and walked on the sea,
You are present today with the same authority and power
to save us from any calamity.

Lord, if there be any unconfessed sins in our life,
we confess them all to You
and Lord, please forgive them for us.
Help us to stand firm in You
and to live a life pleasing to You hereafter.
Wash us with Your blood
that our sins may not be an obstacle
for You to save us in the critical hour.

Keep us as the apple of Your eye
and build a hedge around us.
You have promised, "Call upon Me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."
Father, we know that Your righteous right hand will protect us
and keep us all safe from every disaster
as You are our refuge
and ever-present help in times of trouble.
We praise You and thank You for Your loving-kindness.

Amen.

Leader:
Almighty God, Lord of the universe,
Creator of everything,
we come to you seeking your divine protection
as we face our fears
and confront the threats that cause us anxiety.

[For the following verses, the response is: R. DELIVER YOUR PEOPLE LORD.]

Leader:
Divine Jesus, you calmed the storms
and walked over the waters.
Give us fine weather.
Shield us from distress.
Drive away from our land
all natural calamities and manmade disasters.
We entrust ourselves to you now and forever.

Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary,
pray for us.

Seven Days of Prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory: Saturday

By St. Alphonsus Liguori

O Lord God omnipotent,
we beseech You by the Precious Blood,
which gushed forth from the sacred Side of Your divine Son Jesus
in the presence and to the great sorrow of His most holy Mother,
deliver the souls in purgatory
and among them all especially that soul
which has been most devout to this noble Lady,
that it may come quickly into Your glory,
there to praise You in her,
and her in You through all ages.
Amen.

Blessed Souls, we have prayed for you;
we entreat you, who are so dear to God,
and who are secure of never losing Him,
to pray for us miserable sinners,
who are in danger of being damned,
and of losing God forever.
Amen.

O God, the author of mercy,
the lover of the salvation of mankind;
we address Your clemency,
in behalf of our relations, friends, and benefactors,
who are departed this life,
that by the intercession of blessed Mary, ever virgin, and of all the saints,
You would receive them into the enjoyment of eternal happiness;
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Sign of the Cross:

In the Name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
