Novenas and Intercessory Prayers for Thursday

Sign of the Cross

In the Name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Novena to God the Father

God, our heavenly Father,
we adore You,
and we count ourselves as nothing
before Your Divine Majesty.
You alone are Being, Life, Truth, and Goodness.

Helpless and unworthy as we are,
we honor You, we praise You, we thank You,
and we love You in union with Jesus Christ, Your Son,
our Savior and our Brother,
in the merciful kindness of His Heart
and through His infinite merits.
We desire to serve You, to please You, to obey You,
and to love You always in union with Mary Immaculate,
Mother of God and our Mother.
We also desire to love and serve our neighbor
for the love of You.

Heavenly Father,
thank You for making us Your children in Baptism.
With childlike confidence we ask You for these special favors:

[State your intention(s) here...]

We ask that Your Will may be done.
Give us what You know to be best for our souls,
and for the souls of those for whom we pray.
Give us Your Holy Spirit to enlighten us,
to correct us, and to guide us
in the way of Your commandments and holiness,
while we strive for the happiness of heaven
where we hope to glorify You forever.

Amen.

Novena to Mary, Health of the Sick

Virgin, most holy,
Mother of the Word Incarnate,
Treasurer of graces,
and Refuge of sinners,
we fly to your motherly affection
with lively faith,
and we beg of you the grace
ever to do the will of God.

Into your most holy hands
we commit the keeping of our hearts,
asking you for health of soul and body,
in the certain hope that you,
our most loving Mother,
will hear our prayer.

[Mention your intentions.]

Into the bosom of your tender mercy,
this day, every day of our life,
and at the hour of our death,
we commend our soul and body.

To you we entrust all our hopes and consolations,
all our trials and miseries,
our life and the end of our life,
that all our actions may be ordered and disposed
according to your will and that of your Divine Son.
Amen.

Pope Francis's Prayer to Mary, Health of the Sick (Against COVID-19)

O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey
as a sign of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you,
Health of the Sick.
At the foot of the Cross
you participated in Jesus’ pain,
with steadfast faith.
You, Salvation of all People, know what we need.
We are certain that you will provide,
so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee,
joy and feasting might return
after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform ourselves to the Father’s will
and to do what Jesus tells us:
He who took our sufferings upon Himself,
and bore our sorrows to bring us,
through the Cross,
to the joy of the Resurrection.
Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection,
O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our pleas
– we who are put to the test –
and deliver us from every danger,
O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Novena to Saint Jude Thaddeus

O glorious apostle, SAINT JUDE THADDEUS,
true relative of Jesus and Mary,
we salute you through the most Sacred Heart of Jesus!
Through this Heart we praise and thank God
for all the graces He has bestowed upon you.
Humbly prostrate before you,
we implore you through this Heart
to look down upon us with compassion.
Oh, despise not our poor prayer;
let not our trust be confounded!
To you God has granted the privilege
of aiding mankind in the most desperate cases.
Oh, come to our aid
that we may praise the mercies of God!
All our life, we will be grateful to you
and will be your faithful clients
until we can thank you in heaven.
Amen.

V. Blessed Apostle, with confidence we invoke you!
R. Blessed Apostle, with confidence we invoke you!
V. St. Jude, help of the hopeless, aid us in our distress.
R. St. Jude, help of the hopeless, aid us in our distress.

PRAY FOR Us that we, before death,
may expiate all our sins
by sincere repentance
and the worthy reception
of the holy Sacraments.

Pray for us that we may appease the Divine Justice
and obtain a favorable judgment.

Pray for us that we may be admitted
into the company of the blessed
to rejoice in the presence of our God forever.

Let us pray:

Saint Jude, glorious apostle,
faithful servant and friend of Jesus,
the name of the traitor
has caused you to be forgotten by many.
But the Church honors and invokes you universally
as the patron of difficult and desperate cases.
Pray for us who are so miserable.
Make use, we implore you,
of that particular privilege accorded to you
to bring visible and speedy help
where help was almost despaired of.
Come to our assistance in this great need
that we may receive the consolation and help of heaven
in all our necessities, tribulations and sufferings,
and that we may bless God
with you and all the elect
throughout all eternity.

(here make your request) —

We promise you, O blessed JUDE,
to be ever mindful of this great favor,
and we will never cease to honor you
as our special and powerful patron
and do all in our power to encourage devotion to you.
Amen.

Saint Jude, pray for us
and for all who honor you and invoke your aid.

Our Father… (3 times)
Hail Mary… (3 times)
Glory be… (3 times)

Saint Jude Thaddeus, pray for us.
And for all who invoke your aid.

Prayer to St. Gabriel

Blessed Saint Gabriel, the Archangel
We beseech you to intercede for us
at the throne of divine mercy:
As you announced the mystery of the Incarnation to Mary,
so through your prayers
may we receive strength of faith
and courage of spirit,
and thus find favor with God
and redemption through Christ Our Lord.
May we sing the praise of God our Savior
with the angels and saints in heaven
forever and ever.

Amen.

Prayer for the Protection of the Family

O God of goodness and mercy,
to Your fatherly guidance we commend our family,
our household and all our belongings.
We commit all to Your love and keeping;
Fill this house with Your blessings
even as You filled the holy House of Nazareth with Your presence.

Keep far from us, above all else,
the blemish of sin,
and may You alone reign in our midst by Your law,
by Your most holy love
and by the exercise of every Christian virtue.
Let all of us obey You, love You and set ourselves
to follow in our own life Your example,
that of Mary, Your Mother
and our Mother most loving,
and that of your blameless guardian, Saint Joseph.

Protect us and our house from all evils and misfortunes,
but grant that we may be ever resigned to Your divine will
even in the sorrows which it shall please You to send us.
Finally give unto all of us the grace to live in perfect harmony
and in the fullness of love toward our neighbor.
Grant that every one of us may deserve by a holy life
the comfort of Your holy Sacraments at the hour of death.
O Jesus, bless us and protect us.

O Mary, Mother of grace and of mercy,
defend us against the wicked spirit,
reconcile us with Your Son,
commit us to His keeping,
that so we may be made worthy of His promises.

Saint Joseph, foster-father of our Savior,
guardian of His holy Mother,
head of the Holy Family,
intercede for us,
bless us and defend our home at all times.

Saint Michael,
defend us against all the evil cunning of hell.

Saint Gabriel,
make us understand the holy will of God.

Saint Raphael,
preserve us from all sickness and from every danger to our lives.

Our holy Guardian Angels,
keep our feet safely on the path of salvation both day and night.

Our holy Patrons,
pray for us before the throne of God.

Yea, bless this house,
O God the Father,
who has created us;
O God the Son,
who has suffered for us upon the holy Cross,
and You, O Holy Spirit,
who has sanctified us in holy Baptism.
May the one God in three Divine Persons
preserve our bodies,
purify our minds,
direct our hearts
and bring us all to everlasting life.

Glory be to the Father,
glory be to the Son,
glory be to the Holy Spirit!

  Amen.

Seven Days of Prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory: Thursday

By St. Alphonsus Liguori

O Lord God omnipotent,
we beseech You by the Precious Body and Blood,
of Your divine Son Jesus,
which He Himself on the night before His Passion
gave as meat and drink to His beloved Apostles
and bequeathed to His Holy Church
to be the perpetual Sacrifice
and life-giving nourishment of His faithful people,
deliver the souls in purgatory,
but most of all, that soul
which was most devoted to this Mystery of infinite love,
in order that it may praise You therefore,
together with Your divine Son and the Holy Spirit
in Your glory for ever.
Amen.

Blessed Souls, we have prayed for you;
we entreat you, who are so dear to God,
and who are secure of never losing Him,
to pray for us miserable sinners,
who are in danger of being damned,
and of losing God forever.
Amen.

O God, the author of mercy,
the lover of the salvation of mankind;
we address Your clemency,
in behalf of our relations, friends, and benefactors,
who are departed this life,
that by the intercession of blessed Mary, ever virgin, and of all the saints,
You would receive them into the enjoyment of eternal happiness;
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Sign of the Cross

In the Name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
