Novena Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

O most holy Heart of Jesus,
fountain of every blessing,
I adore You,
I love You
and with a lively sorrow for my sins,
I offer You this poor heart of mine.
Make me humble, patient,
pure and wholly obedient to Your will.
Grant, good Jesus,
that I may live in You and for You.
Protect me in the midst of danger;
comfort me in my afflictions;
give me health of body,
assistance in my temporal needs,
Your blessing on all that I do,
and the grace of a holy death.
Within Your Heart I place my every care.
In every need let me come to You
with humble trust saying,
‘Heart of Jesus help me.’

Prayer for Daily Neglects

Eternal Father,
I offer You the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
with all its love, all its sufferings and all its merits.

To expiate all the sins I have committed this day and throughout my life.
Glory be…

To purify the good I have done poorly this day and throughout my life.
Glory be…

To supply for the good I ought to have done, and that I have neglected this day and throughout my life.
Glory be…

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

V. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful.
R. And kindle in them the fire of your love.

V. Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created.
R. And you shall renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray:

O God, who did instruct the hearts of the faithful
by the light of the Holy Spirit,
grant that by the gift of the same Spirit
we may be truly wise
and ever rejoice in His consolation,
through Jesus Christ Our Lord.
Amen.

Prayer for the Protection of the Family

O God of goodness and mercy,
to Your fatherly guidance we commend our family,
our household and all our belongings.
We commit all to Your love and keeping;
Fill this house with Your blessings
even as You filled the holy House of Nazareth with Your presence.

Keep far from us, above all else,
the blemish of sin,
and may You alone reign in our midst by Your law,
by Your most holy love
and by the exercise of every Christian virtue.
Let all of us obey You, love You and set ourselves
to follow in our own life Your example,
that of Mary, Your Mother
and our Mother most loving,
and that of Your blameless guardian, Saint Joseph.

Protect us and our house from all evils and misfortunes,
but grant that we may be ever resigned to Your divine will
even in the sorrows which it shall please You to send us.
Finally give unto all of us the grace to live in perfect harmony
and in the fullness of love toward our neighbor.
Grant that every one of us may deserve by a holy life
the comfort of Your holy Sacraments at the hour of death.
O Jesus, bless us and protect us.

O Mary, Mother of grace and of mercy,
defend us against the wicked spirit,
reconcile us with Your Son,
commit us to His keeping,
that so we may be made worthy of His promises.

Saint Joseph, foster-father of our Savior,
guardian of His holy Mother,
head of the Holy Family,
intercede for us,
bless us and defend our home at all times.

Saint Michael,
defend us against all the evil cunning of hell.

Saint Gabriel,
make us understand the holy will of God.

Saint Raphael,
preserve us from all sickness and from every danger to our lives.

Our holy Guardian Angels,
keep our feet safely on the path of salvation both day and night.

Our holy Patrons,
pray for us before the throne of God.

Yea, bless this house,
O God the Father,
who has created us;
O God the Son,
who has suffered for us upon the holy Cross,
and You, O Holy Spirit,
who has sanctified us in holy Baptism.
May the one God in three Divine Persons
preserve our bodies,
purify our minds,
direct our hearts
and bring us all to everlasting life.

Glory be to the Father,
glory be to the Son,
glory be to the Holy Spirit!

  Amen.

Prayer for the Dead

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope
for my family, relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
Amen.

Novena to Our Lady of Fatima

Queen of the Holy Rosary,
you have deigned to come to Fatima
to reveal to the three shepherd children
the treasures of grace hidden in the Rosary.
Inspire my heart with a sincere love of this devotion,
in order that by meditating on the Mysteries
of our Redemption which are recalled in it,
I may be enriched with its fruits
and obtain peace for the world,
the conversion of sinners and of Russia,
and the favour which I ask of you in this Rosary.

(Here mention your request.)

I ask it for the greater glory of God,
for your own honour,
and for the good of souls,
especially for my own.
Amen.

The Most Holy Rosary

Sign of the Cross

In the Name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Opening Prayers

Apostle’s Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell; the third day, He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father Almighty;
from there He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.

Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

For an increase in the virtues of faith, hope and charity, we pray:

An Act of Faith (optional)

O my God, I firmly believe
that You are one God in three Divine Persons,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;
I believe that Your Divine Son became man and died for our sins,
and that He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches,
because You revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived.

Hail Mary…

An Act of Hope (optional)

O my God, relying on Your infinite goodness and promises,
I hope to obtain pardon of my sins,
the help of Your grace, and life everlasting,
through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.

Hail Mary…

An Act of Charity (optional)

O my God, I love You above all things,
with my whole heart and soul,
because You are all-good and worthy of all love.
I love my neighbor as myself for the love of You.
I forgive all who have injured me,
and I ask pardon of all whom I have injured.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God,
Have mercy on me, a sinner.

Hail Mary…

Glory Be:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

Optional Prayers After Each Decade

Prayer of Fatima

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins,
save us from the fires of hell,
and lead all souls to Heaven,
especially those in most need of Thy mercy.

Prayer for Eternal Rest

In November and Rosaries for the Dead: The ‘Eternal Rest’ prayer is often prayed in place of the Fatima Prayer during the month of November (especially after dusk on All Saints Day and on All Souls Day) and during Rosaries prayed for the dead, such as at Funeral Vigils. Start by dedicating the prayer.

For our departed loved ones (or state a name), especially for the holy souls in Purgatory, we pray:
Eternal rest grant unto him/her (them), O Lord;
and let perpetual light shine upon him/her (them).
May he/she (they) rest in peace.
Amen.

Prayer of the Miraculous Medal:

O Mary, conceived without sin,
pray for us who have recourse to you,
and for all who do not have recourse to you,
especially for the enemies of the Holy Church,
and for those recommended to you.
Amen.

The Luminous Mysteries

The First Luminous Mystery – The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan

Lord, through the intercession of Mary,
Your most faithful Spouse,
grant me the grace of openness to Your guidance
and faithfulness to my baptismal vows.

When the kindness and generous love
of God our savior appeared,
not because of any righteous deeds we had done
but because of his mercy,
he saved us through the bath of rebirth
and renewal by the holy Spirit,
whom he richly poured out on us
through Jesus Christ our savior,
so that we might be justified by his grace
and become heirs in hope of eternal life.
(Ti 3:4-7 – NABR)

Our Father…

  1. The people who walked in darkness
    have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
    on them has light shined.
    Hail Mary… (Is 9:2 – NRSV)

  2. There was a man sent from God,
    whose name was John.
    He came as a witness
    to testify to the light,
so that all might believe through him.
He himself was not the light,
but he came to testify to the light.
The true light, which enlightens everyone,
    was coming into the world.
    Hail Mary… (Jn 1:6-9 – NRSV)

  3. The word of God came to John,
son of Zechariah, in the wilderness.
He went into all the region around the Jordan,
    proclaiming a baptism of repentance
    for the forgiveness of sins.
    Hail Mary… (Lk 3:2*-3 – NRSV)

  4. As it is written in the book
of the words of the prophet Isaiah,
“A voice of one crying out in the desert:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord,
    make straight his paths.
    Every valley shall be filled
and every mountain and hill shall be made low.
The winding roads shall be made straight,
and the rough ways made smooth,
and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’”
    Hail Mary… (Lk 3:4-6 – NABR)

  5. John wore clothing made of camel’s hair
and had a leather belt around his waist.
His food was locusts and wild honey.
At that time Jerusalem, all Judea,
and the whole region around the Jordan
    were going out to him
and were being baptized by him
    in the Jordan River
    as they acknowledged their sins.
    Hail Mary… (Mt 3:4-6 – NABR)

  6. He proclaimed, “The one who is more powerful than I
    is coming after me;
I am not worthy to stoop down and untie
    the thong of his sandals.
    I have baptized you with water;
but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
    Hail Mary… (Mk 1:7-8 – NRSV)

  7. Then Jesus came from Galilee
    to John at the Jordan,
    to be baptized by him.
John would have prevented him, saying,
“I need to be baptized by you,
and do you come to me?”
    Hail Mary… (Mt 3:13-14 – NRSV)

  8. But Jesus answered him,
    “Let it be so now;
for it is proper for us in this way
    to fulfill all righteousness.”

    Then [John] consented.
    Hail Mary… (Mt 3:15 – NRSV)

  9. Now when all the people were baptized,
and when Jesus also had been baptized
    and was praying,
    the heaven was opened,
and the Holy Spirit descended upon him
in bodily form like a dove.
And a voice came from heaven,
    “You are my Son, the Beloved;
with you I am well pleased.”
    Hail Mary… (Lk 3:21-22 – NRSV)

  10. The next day [John] saw Jesus
    coming toward him and declared,
“Here is the Lamb of God
who takes away the sin of the world!
This is he of whom I said,
‘After me comes a man who ranks ahead of me
    because he was before me.’
And I myself have seen and have testified
that this is the Son of God.”
    Hail Mary… (Jn 1:29-31,34 – NRSV)

Glory be…
O my Jesus…
or: Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord…
O Mary, conceived without sin…

The Second Luminous Mystery – The First Miracle at the wedding Feast of Cana

Lord, through the intercession of Mary,
Your most benevolent Mother,
grant me the grace of fidelity and generosity in your service,
so as to be transformed from the common to the finest.

There is, on the one hand,
the abrogation of an earlier commandment
because it was weak and ineffectual
(for the law made nothing perfect);
there is, on the other hand,
the introduction of a better hope,
through which we approach God.
Jesus has now obtained
a more excellent ministry,
and to that degree
he is the mediator of a better covenant,
which has been enacted through better promises.
(Heb 7:18-19, 8:6 – NRSV)

Our Father…

  1. There was a wedding in Cana of Galilee,
and the mother of Jesus was there.
    Jesus and his disciples
had also been invited to the wedding.
    When the wine gave out,
the mother of Jesus said to him,
    “They have no wine.”
    Hail Mary… (Jn 2:1-3 – NRSV)

  2. And Jesus said to her,
“Woman, what concern is that to you and to me?
My hour has not yet come.”

His mother said to the servants,
    “Do whatever he tells you.”
    Hail Mary… (Jn 2:4-5 – NRSV)

  3. Now standing there were six stone water jars
for the Jewish rites of purification,
each holding twenty or thirty gallons.
Jesus said to them, “Fill the jars with water.”
And they filled them up to the brim.
He said to them, “Now draw some out,
and take it to the chief steward.”

    So they took it.
    Hail Mary… (Jn 2:6-8 – NRSV)

  4. When the steward tasted the water that had become wine,
and did not know where it came from
(though the servants who had drawn the water knew),
the steward called the bridegroom and said to him,
“Everyone serves the good wine first,
    and then the inferior wine
after the guests have become drunk.
But you have kept the good wine until now.
    Hail Mary… (Jn 2:9-11 – NRSV)

  5. [The Lord Jesus Christ] will transform
    the body of our humiliation
    that it may be conformed
to the body of his glory,
by the power that also enables him
to make all things subject to himself.
    Hail Mary… (Phil 3:20*-21 – NRSV)

  6. “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me,
and let the one who believes in me drink.
    As the scripture has said,
    ‘Out of the believer’s heart
shall flow rivers of living water.’”

    Hail Mary… (Jn 7:38 – NRSV)

  7. On this mountain the Lord of hosts
    will make for all peoples
    a feast of rich food,
    a feast of well-aged wines,
of rich food filled with marrow,
    of well-aged wines strained clear.
    Hail Mary… (Is 25:6 – NRSV)

  8. There are many who say,
“O that we might see some good!
Let the light of your face shine on us, O Lord!”
You have put gladness in my heart
more than when their grain and wine abound.
    Hail Mary… (Ps 4:6-7 – NRSV)

  9. Jesus did this,
    the first of his signs,
    in Cana of Galilee,
    and revealed his glory;
and his disciples believed in him.
    Hail Mary… (Jn 2:11 – NRSV)

  10. Now Jesus did many other signs
in the presence of his disciples,
which are not written in this book.
But these are written so that you may come to believe
    that Jesus is the Messiah,
    the Son of God,
    and that through believing
you may have life in his name.
    Hail Mary… (Jn 20:30-31 – NRSV)

Glory be…
O my Jesus…
or: Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord…
O Mary, conceived without sin…

The Third Luminous Mystery – The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God and the Call to Conversion

Lord, through the intercession of Mary,
Your most merciful Daughter,
grant me the grace of trusting in your mercy,
awareness of your kingdom within us,
and true repentance.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a net
that was thrown into the sea
and caught fish of every kind;
when it was full,
they drew it ashore, sat down,
and put the good into baskets
but threw out the bad.
So it will be at the end of the age.
The angels will come out
and separate the evil from the righteous
and throw them into the furnace of fire,
where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

(Mt 13:47-50 – NRSV)

Our Father…

  1. From that time Jesus began to proclaim,
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
    Jesus went throughout Galilee,
    teaching in their synagogues
and proclaiming the Gospel of the kingdom
    and curing every disease
and every sickness among the people.
And great crowds followed him from Galilee,
    the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea,
    and from beyond the Jordan.
    Hail Mary… (Mt 4:17,23,25 – NRSV)

  2. When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain;
and after he sat down, his disciples came to him.
Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
    Blessed are those who mourn,
    for they will be comforted.
    Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.”

    Hail Mary… (Mt 4:25, 5:1-5 – NRSV)

  3. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    for they will be filled.
    Blessed are the merciful,
    for they will receive mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
    for they will see God.
    Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted
    for righteousness’ sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

    Hail Mary… (Mt 5:6-10 – NRSV)

  4. “The kingdom of heaven may be compared
    to someone who sowed good seed in his field;
    but while everybody was asleep,
an enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat,
    and then went away.
So when the plants came up and bore grain,
then the weeds appeared as well.”

    Hail Mary… (Mt 13:24b-26 – NRSV)

  5. “And the slaves of the householder came and said to him,
‘Do you want us to go and gather [the weeds]?’
But he replied, ‘No; for in gathering the weeds
you would uproot the wheat along with them.
    Let both of them grow together until the harvest;
and at harvest time I will tell the reapers,
    Collect the weeds first
and bind them in bundles to be burned,
but gather the wheat into my barn.’”

    Hail Mary… (Mt 13:27a,28b-31 – NRSV)

  6. “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed
    that someone took and sowed in his field;
it is the smallest of all the seeds,
    but when it has grown
it is the greatest of shrubs
    and becomes a tree,
so that the birds of the air
come and make nests in its branches.”

    Hail Mary… (Mt 13:31-32 – NRSV)

  7. “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field,
    which someone found and hid;
then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has
    and buys that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant
    in search of fine pearls;
on finding one pearl of great value,
he went and sold all that he had
    and bought it.”

    Hail Mary… (Mt 13:44-46 – NRSV)

  8. Jesus was asked by the Pharisees
when the kingdom of God was coming,
    and he answered,
“The kingdom of God is not coming
    with things that can be observed;
nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’
    or ‘There it is!’
For, in fact, the kingdom of God is among you.”

    Hail Mary… (Lk 17:20-21 – NRSV)

  9. At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked,
“Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
He called a child, whom he put among them, and said,
    “Truly I tell you,
unless you change and become like children,
you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Whoever becomes humble like this child
is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.”

    Hail Mary… (Mt 18:1-5 – NRSV)

  10. Then Jesus summoned his twelve disciples
and gave them authority over unclean spirits,
    to cast them out,
and to cure every disease and every sickness.
These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions:
“As you go, proclaim the good news,
‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’
Cure the sick, raise the dead,
cleanse the lepers, cast out demons.
    You received without payment;
    give without payment.”

    Hail Mary… (Mt 10:1,5,7-8 – NRSV)

Glory be…
O my Jesus…
or: Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord…
O Mary, conceived without sin…

The Fourth Luminous Mystery – The Transfiguration of our Lord

Lord, through the intercession of Mary,
Your most radiant Mother,
grant me the grace of spiritual courage
and the desire for holiness.

The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
One thing I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
to live in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in his temple.
(Ps 27:1,4 – NRSV)

Our Father…

  1. Jesus took with him Peter and John and James,
and went up on the mountain to pray.
And he was transfigured before them,
and his face shone like the sun,
and his clothes became dazzling white.
    Hail Mary… (Lk 9:28, Mt 17:2 – NRSV)

  2. Bless the Lord, O my soul.
O Lord my God, you are very great.
You are clothed with honor and majesty,
wrapped in light as with a garment.
    Hail Mary… (Ps 104:1-2a – NRSV)

  3. Suddenly they saw two men,
Moses and Elijah, talking to him.
    They appeared in glory
and were speaking of his departure,
which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
    Hail Mary… (Lk 9:30-31 – NRSV)

  4. Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep;
but since they had stayed awake,
    they saw his glory
and the two men who stood with him.
    Hail Mary… (Lk 9:32 – NRSV)

  5. Just as they were leaving him,
    Peter said to Jesus,
    “Master, it is good for us to be here;
    let us make three dwellings,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”
    — not knowing what he said.
    Hail Mary… (Lk 9:33 – NRSV)

  6. While he was still speaking,
suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them,
and from the cloud a voice said,
    “This is my Son, the Beloved;
    with him I am well pleased;
    listen to him!”
    Hail Mary… (Mt 17:5 – NRSV)

  7. When the disciples heard this,
    they fell to the ground
    and were overcome by fear.
But Jesus came and touched them, saying,
“Get up and do not be afraid.”
And when they looked up, they saw no one
    except Jesus himself alone.
    Hail Mary… (Mt 17:6-8 – NRSV)

  8. For it is the God who said,
“Let light shine out of darkness,”
who has shone in our hearts to give the light
of the knowledge of the glory of God
in the face of Jesus Christ.
    Hail Mary… (2 Cor 4:6 – NRSV)

  9. O send out your light and your truth;
     let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy hill
     and to your dwelling.
Then I will go to the altar of God,
     to God my exceeding joy.
    Hail Mary… (Ps 43:3-4a – NRSV)

  10. As they were coming down the mountain,
he ordered them to tell no one
    about what they had seen,
until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
So they kept the matter to themselves,
questioning what this rising from the dead could mean.
    Hail Mary… (Mk 9:9-10 – NRSV)

Glory be…
O my Jesus…
or: Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord…
O Mary, conceived without sin…

The Fifth Luminous Mystery – The Institution of the Holy Eucharist in the Last Supper

Lord, through the intercession of Mary,
Your most loving Mother,
grant me the grace of a deep and intimate love for You
in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar,
where You give us Your body and blood.

“Do not work for the food that perishes,
but for the food that endures for eternal life,
which the Son of Man will give you.
For it is on him that God the Father
has set his seal.
This is the work of God,
that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

(Jn 6:27,29* – NRSV)

Our Father…

  1. On the first day of Unleavened Bread
the disciples came to Jesus, saying,
“Where do you want us to make the preparations
for you to eat the Passover?”
He said, “Go into the city
to a certain man, and say to him,
    ‘The Teacher says, My time is near;
I will keep the Passover at your house
    with my disciples.’”

    Hail Mary… (Mt 26:17-18 – NRSV)

  2. When the hour came,
[Jesus] took his place at the table,
    and the apostles with him.
He said to them, “I have eagerly desired
to eat this Passover with you
    before I suffer;
for I tell you, I will never eat it again
until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

    Hail Mary… (Lk 22:14-16 – NRSV)

  3. Then he took a loaf of bread
and when he had given thanks,
he broke it and gave it to them, saying,
    “This is my body,
    which is given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me.”

    Hail Mary… (Lk 22:19 – NRSV)

  4. Then he took a cup,
    and after giving thanks
he gave it to them, saying,
    “Drink from it, all of you;
for this is my blood of the new covenant,
which is poured out for many
    for the forgiveness of sins.”

    Hail Mary… (Mt 26:27-28 – NRSV)

  5. For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup,
you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
    Whoever, therefore, eats the bread
or drinks the cup of the Lord
    in an unworthy manner
    will be guilty of profaning
the body and blood of the Lord.
    Hail Mary… (1 Cor 11:26-27 – RSV)

  6. Examine yourselves, and only then
eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
For all who eat and drink without discerning the body,
eat and drink judgment against themselves.
    Hail Mary… (1 Cor 11:28-29 – NRSV)

  7. “Very truly, I tell you,
it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven,
but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.
For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven
and gives life to the world.
I am the bread of life.
Whoever comes to me will never be hungry,
and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

    Hail Mary… (Jn 6:32-33*,35 – NRSV)

  8. “I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
    Whoever eats of this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.
Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life,
and I will raise them up on the last day.”

    Hail Mary… (Jn 6:51,54 – NRSV)

  9. “For my flesh is true food
and my blood is true drink.
Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood
abide in me, and I in them.
Just as the living Father sent me,
and I live because of the Father,
so whoever eats me will live because of me.”

    Hail Mary… (Jn 6:55-57 – NRSV)

  10. All things came into being through him,
and without him not one thing came into being.
What has come into being in him was life,
and the life was the light of all people.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness did not overcome it.
    Hail Mary… (Jn 1:3-5 – NRSV)

Glory be…
O my Jesus…
or: Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord…
O Mary, conceived without sin…

Closing Reflection on the Role of the Blessed Mother in Our Salvation (Optional)

The Virgin Mary, who at the message of the angel
received the Word of God in her heart and in her body
and gave Life to the world,
… is endowed with the high office and dignity
of being the Mother of the Son of God,
by which account she is also
the beloved daughter of the Father
and the temple of the Holy Spirit.
At the same time, however,
because she belongs to the offspring of Adam
she is one with all those who are to be saved.
And so they turn their eyes to Mary who shines forth
to the whole community of the elect
as the model of virtues.
For Mary … calls the faithful
to her Son and His sacrifice
and to the love of the Father.
(Vat. II, Lumen Gentium: Constit. of Ch. 53, 65)

a spirit of courage and of right judgement,

By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care,,

Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
